1,600 donors help Murphy Raise a Stunning $1.1 Million in Ten Weeks for Senate Race

NEW BRITAIN – Powered by 1,600 contributors – 1,100 of whom gave small donations of $100 or less – Congressman Chris Murphy (CT-5) is announcing that he has raised $1.1 million in the first 10 weeks of the race for U.S. Senate. Murphy’s broad support comes from every corner of the state - 85 percent of his contributions came from Connecticut residents.

“Raising $1.1 million in just over two months is amazing. But I’m most proud of the 1,100 small donors who helped us get to there. Thousands of people are investing in our campaign because they want a new, fresh voice in the Senate who has a proven record of fighting for progressive values. This campaign is off to a fantastic start, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us in the coming months,” said Murphy.

Fast Facts about Murphy’s Senate Campaign Fundraising Quarter

· Murphy raised $1.1 million in the first ten weeks of his Senate candidacy, and 85 percent of his contributions came from Connecticut residents.
· Murphy’s campaign has nearly $950,000 in the bank, an impressive “cash on hand” statistic for a statewide operation.
· Ninety four percent of his contributors are individuals investing in his candidacy.
· Almost 70% of these individuals gave $100 or less.
· Nearly 80% of these individuals gave $250 or less.

Murphy has also been endorsed by more than 2,000 Democratic and progressive activists from across the state. He also has the support of Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3), Congressman John Larson (CT-1), Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2), and Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4).
