Release: McMahon Digs Until She Makes Murphy’s Point
August 25 2012ROCKY HILL–This week, wrestling mogul Linda McMahon continued her tired false attacks against Chris Murphy, digging through public records until she actually proved....what Chris has said from the start.
As Murphy has stated, when the House of Representatives adjourned in October of 2008, he went back to Connecticut to hear from his constituents and business leaders about the most important issue of the day--the looming financial crisis. As McMahon’s campaign noted, Chris was participating in a Walk to School Day in Meriden, meeting with small businesses in places like Torrington, and going door to door to talk to people whose savings were evaporating as the stock market imploded.
"McMahon just made Chris's point here: in October of 2008, McMahon was lining her own pockets while Chris was in Connecticut hearing from his constituents, especially business leaders, about the real-world impact of the financial crisis,” said Murphy spokeswoman Taylor Lavender. “He was also meeting with local community groups and the media. Chris listened to the people with the most at stake in Connecticut, like families who were losing retirement savings and college funds, and made the tough decisions that prevented a total collapse of the financial system, which would have devastated Connecticut's economy."
Lavender added, "Linda McMahon has made it clear that she won't listen to new ideas to solve problems and help create jobs, and now she's telling people that when tough issues arise, she'd refuse to come back to the state and listen to Connecticut residents. Once again, it's clear that McMahon only cares about representing one person in the
Senate – herself."
